Pope Launches Broadside Against German Bishops

Papst ermahnt die ungehorsamen deutschen Bischöfe

Vatican.  The German Bishops must decide to proceed against pornography.  Pope Benedivt XVI said this yesterday in a reception for Reinhard Schweppe, the new German Ambassador to the Holy See. The Holy See is concerned on this account, that the necessary action against the dissemination of pornography on the part of the Catholic Church in Germany "must be decisively and clearly pursued".  It is clear that with this the Pope was implying the scandal surrounding the Catholic 'Weltbild'  publisher.

I'm waiting anyday now to hear that the Holy See has suppressed the entire German hierarchy, and handed to country over as a missionary territory to Bishop Fellay ... or is that too much to hope for?

David, I think you already know the answer to your question. The only reason Benedict is doing anything at all is because it is now out in the open. Doing absolutely nothing is not expedient. Still, he will not do anything remotely substantial, nor will the German bishops who have already been caught in a lie about their past knowledge of these evil deeds.
