Church in England to be restored by Catholic priests dedicated to Latin Masss, says Spero News [sic]

Editor: We heard earlier how Muslims are trying to occupy churches abandoned by the effete and ineffective types who generally control the Church in France. It's not like Muslims harass women or anything. We did see an SSPX priest take over a French parish in 1977, why not? Now we're hearing about a different kind of occupation taking place in blighty. It's as if the tabletistas have finally acquiesced to superior and more virile claims of authenticity.

The Catholic Diocese of Shrewsbury, England, is in negotiations with the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest – a Catholic order that propagates the Latin Mass - to re-open a landmark church in the borough of Wirral. Located in northwest England along the Mersey River and adjacent to Wales, the church of Ss Peter and Paul's in New Brighton was closed by the Diocese of Shrewsbury in 2008 because it was deemed too large and expensive for its congregation. However, its side chapel was recently reopened to the public after a local campaign.

Now the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, a group which has experience of reopening churches, has expressed an interest in the site. Based near Florence, Italy, the order boasts approximately 70 priests and mainly concentrates on missionary work by running parishes and schools in 12 different countries.

Founding member of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary turns 90

(Still River, Massachusetts) On November 1, Sister Anne Mary Cobb celebrated her 90th birthday. Customarily in community only the feastday of the patronal Saint is celebrated for each religious, but at ninety it seemed appropriate to mark the day with a celebration.

At lunch, the Sisters from St. Elizabeth’s House and Saint Ann’s House joined for a party in Sister Anne Mary’s honor.

Sister is one of the founding members of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the first member to attend Father Feeney’s lectures at the Center in Cambridge.

A native of Clinton, Mass, sister had an illustrious career before she entered religious life, traveled throughout Europe before the war. Sister joined the Center in 1949 and has been a faithful member of the Community for sixty-one years.

A woman still to be admired, Sister impressed everyone with her wit and Irish elegance which has not diminished. Reciting one of her many poems at the celebration, the event ended with song and laughter and gratitude to God for such a beautiful example of perseverance.

La Comunión Tradicionalista Carlista meets in Cerro de los Ángeles for the Solemnity of Christ the King

[Cerro de los Ángeles, Spain] This past 20th of November, 2010, eve of the Solemnity of Christ the King, the last Sunday of Ordinary Time, the Traditionalist Carlist Communion gathered again at Cerro de los Ángeles, the geographic center of the Iberian Peninsula, where Providence sculpted in stone His Promise to Spain, and where, defending a sacred place, martyrs whose remains rest below the new monument, gave their lives. Two of these martyrs were members of the Traditionalist Carlist Communion and the others were more or less involved in Carlism.
There were more faithful in attendance at Mass than usual and the hall where the dinner was held after Mass was filled to capacity. Soon we will be publishing some of the main talks of the event. The 20th of November is synonymous with Spanish Catholic Patriotism

"The 20th of November is synonymous with

Spanish Catholic Patriotism"

by Jose Luís Corral

Translated from issue #640 of the Siempre P'alante magazine. http://spalante.es/

Since the death of the last Catholic head of state, Francisco Franco, on November 20th, 1975, the 20th of November has become synonymous with Catholic Spain. Every year throughout the peninsula the anniversary of Franco's death, which also coincides with the death of Jose Antonio Primo de Rivera in 1936, is commemorated.

On a national level, the memorial services in the Valle de los Caidos and the Plaza de Oriente have served as a testimony to the world that Catholicism is not dead in Spain. However, the enemies of God and Spain, have tried to suppress these celebrations and, unfortunately, have had success in doing so.

The attacks on the Valle de Los Caidos culminated with the nefarious “Law of Historical Memory” which prohibits anyone from entering the Basilica grounds with any political or religious regalia. Not only that, but this law has effectively barred visitors from seeing the the largest and most significant architectural monument of the twentieth century. Despite the persecution, due to the heroic resistance of the Benedictine Community that is adjacent to the Basilica, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered outdoors on the grounds near the Basilica.

Due to the prohibition of Mass in the Basilica, the Francisco Franco Foundation has been forced to move their yearly Traditional Latin Mass to the Church of Santa Gema in Madrid at 8:30 p.m.

On the same day the traditional “Christ the King” dinner, which is organized by the Movimiento Católico Espanol and the Acción Juvenil Española, will take place at the Hotel Mayorazgo near Gran Via and Plaza España in Madrid.

On Sunday the 21st the Nation Confederation of Veterans gathering in the Plaza de Oriente will feature speakers such as Blas Piñar as well as patriotic hymns and marches.

The weekend events will conclude with a dinner organized by Fuerza Nueva in the Hotel Centro Norte, near Chamartín Station in Madrid.
